Dr. Schafer is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in North Carolina (A20199), a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in South Carolina (9046), and a National Certified Counselor. She provides clinical counseling for teens (15+) and adults, helping clients navigate life’s challenges with compassion, clinical expertise, and a deeply grounded sense of care.
She holds a Doctorate in Formational Counseling and master’s degrees in Clinical Counseling and Spiritual Formation and Leadership. Dr. Schafer is also a Certified Brainspotting Practitioner through Brainspotting Trainings LLC, a Certified Trauma Professional with Evergreen, and is certified in both the Safe and Sound Protocol and the Rest and Restore Protocol—programs designed to help regulate and restore balance to the human nervous system. In addition, she offers EMDR therapy, supporting clients in processing trauma, reducing distress, and fostering emotional resilience.
Alongside her clinical work, Dr. Schafer has spent nearly two decades walking with individuals in the Christian community through non-clinical roles of mentoring, formation, healing prayer and spiritual direction. While her counseling practice is firmly rooted in science and evidence-based models, Dr. Schafer’s faith profoundly shapes her approach. She believes every person is inherently valuable and deeply loved, and she holds an unwavering hope that growth, healing, and transformation are always possible through both clinical wisdom and the presence of God.
Her approach is body-based and attachment-focused, emphasizing the holistic integration of mind, body, and spirit. She understands that early experiences of connection—and disconnection—are imprinted in both the mind and the body, shaping how we relate to ourselves and others. Through compassionate exploration, somatic interventions, and embodied practices, Dr. Schafer helps clients rediscover balance and harmony within themselves and in relationship with others—fostering healing that touches every part of life.
